Lest anyone have continuing concerns that HQ/ProQuest would sell out to
Ancestry.com (
MyFamily.com) - ProQuest is a public company based in Ann
Arbor, MI with Operating Revenue (Q3) of $463 million and profits in the $80
million range. It trades on the NYSE as PQE. Forbes recognized the
company as one of the 100 fastest growing companies in the US.
MyFamily.com (
Ancestry.com) on the other hand is a much smaller private
company based in Provo, UT. Being a private company none of their
financials are published - so my observation of "much smaller" is only
guess - but probably a good guess.
I suppose that PQE could spin-off and sell the HQ division however. But
why?

HQ is still available through my library so it is "still in
business".
Also agree that it is unlikely that
Ancestry.com purchased ProQuest. My
library offers both HQ and
Ancestry.com -- but only HQ is available online
from home. To use Ancestry it must be accessed from the library.
Finally, members of the OGS may access through their subscription (or so I
am advised and assuming that they still have the resource -- perhaps
someone else will comment on this).
