The way I understand it spammers do use web pages (html code and plain text) to harvest
addresses. The javascript example works for now, as does replacing the @ with @.
What ever we do will at some point no longer work as scripts will be updated at some point
to overcome the new strategies. Right now I think the best way is to write the email
address into a graphic the way Rootsweb/Ancestry does for message board postings.
One thing that is often over looked is that some of the worms and viruses out there now
specifically harvest email addresses and 'send them home' to be collected and sold
to spammers. I have an email acct that I have NEVER put on ANY web page or message board
and still I get spam from it. Because it were in someone's address book that had a
worm it was 'harvested' and the rest is history.
I use Mailwasher to blacklist and bounce spam and it has cut down some on what I end up
seeing. I tend to get about 150 email messages a day and about 60% of that is spam.

Sandy,
Yes, I see what you mean and that is what I'm doing. However, I'm
told that these people do look at the source code to harvest
addresses. I wonder who would know the right answer? Thanks for
taking the time trying to help me!
