Hello Fellow CC's,
I would like to share my opinion on this subject. I have been the coordinator to Clark
Co. OH for now just one year. The previous cood. lived in Clark Co. but had some major
family crisis going on and I was at the time a volunteer. I don't live in Clark Co.
but in Oregon (way out west!) I have recieved letters asking me to "Would you Go down
to the Court house and research this....." I tell them nicely and gently that I
don't live in Clark Co. but offer them suggestions and if I had it on hand the
microfilm number they would need at their local FHC. I have never recieved a nasty
response. But I have to tell you some of my volunteers have. Just because they have
submitted marriage records or cemetery records or what ever, doesn't mean they have
the entire book and my volunteers have been viciously been harassed by some people
DEMANDING that they give them every piece of information and if they don't they keep
sending email.
I would like to put a Blurb on each of my pages, Being blunt but gently telling people
viewing the databases "This is it, the volunteers can't do your genealogy, they
can't goto the courthouse for you, they just submitted this file, that is it!"
Don't bother them for information that is not on the datafile. I haven't figured
out a nice way to say it yet.
Well that is my 2 cents worth..
Warmly,
Sara Greer

Subject: OHGenWeb Mail: An Item to Ponder
Howdy folks:
I received the email below today, and thought I'd pass it on simply as
a point to ponder.

I am greatly disturbed that people are adopting these counties and not
contributing to the information provided on the pages.
What good is a person to a county if they don't live in or can research
in that county? Waiting for information from other people will not get
the information on the pages!>>>>
