/I have been nominated to be a member of the national board. I accepted
the nomination and we now seem to be in a time period of "running" for
the election. I have answered the following questions on
Discuss-l(a)rootsweb.com. Also running for national offices is our Bill
Oliver for national coordinator, our Lorraine Newsome for NENC the two
year term, and our Alice Allen.

/Subject:/ NENC: Answer to Questions
/Date:/ Mon, 19 Jun 2006 09:49:41 -0400
*Sarah, Sorry not to answer your email sooner, but I was not subbed to
this board. Now that I am, my answers to your questions are as follows:*
Sandra;
As a CC Representative for the NENC area, what would
you consider as being qualified for the position?
*"I have been a representative of the CC's for the state of Ohio for
over one year in the OHGenWeb Project. I have experience dealing with
issues as they arose in the project from the first day of my elected and
voluntary term." *
What is any accomplishments have you done to qualify
you as a representative of your fellow CC's?
*"I am the OHGenWeb volunteer State Coordinator representing Ohio in the
USGenWeb project, having completed my first year in April of 2006. I
designed the new makeover website for OHGenWeb in CSS webstyles. My goal
is to encourage fellow CC's to show their best work for the researchers
coming to visit their websites. I try to lead by example.
*
*I have a Bachelor's degree in Education and Psychology, completed
additional coursework in the College of Art in web design and business.
I have worked in the USGenWeb project since 1997 as a volunteer
researcher, transcriber and then webmaster. I teach internet genealogy
classes in local libraries. *
*I am a member of Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War by
proving my descendancy from three soldiers, and am a member of First
Families of Athens County Ohio having proven my ancestors were in the
county since 1817.*
*Many of my family lines have been in America since the Dutch Colonial
Days of the 1640's, and when not working on sites I spend my time
researching my ancestors and helping others find theirs."*
You are serving as a CC for the county of Delaware.
The website (
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohdelawa/
<
http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Eohdelawa/>) has
not been updated since July 2005. How will you be
able to represent CC's when you aren't able to care
for your site when you are doing the job as the SC of
Ohio? Which leads to the question, how can you
represent the CC's when you are a SC? Wouldn't this
be a double standard?
*"If you notice the webpage date you are referring to for Delaware
County, OHGenWeb, states the date the site was created by me for
researchers, not the date it was updated." I actually continue to care
for many websites while SC of OHGenWeb including my home sites of Athens
and Hocking counties; other county sites; and an ambitious new site I
created to help researchers and CC's locate the vital records at Family
Search.org. and other free online databases quickly
(
http://www.ohgen.net). You ask How can I represent the CC's when a SC,
well an SC is elected to represent the CC's of a state by the CC's of a
state and I proudly represent my fine group of fellow CC's."*
In the past few months, you have ignored the request
by the AB to reinstate a fellow CC. If you have
ignored one of your CC's rights, why should we as your
constituents consider you as a candidate? Will you be
there in our corner when we need you or will you
disappear with no notice whatsoever?
*" I received a recommendation by the board and was told it was a
recommendation as stated not a request. That is very important because
the final decision I was told was still mine to make. Sometimes leaders
have to make difficult decisions and if important enough have to stand
by them. Leaders often make difficult decisions based on the knowledge
they have at hand that may not be available to the group as a whole, and
the group that elected them into office have faith that the leader can
make the best decisions encompassing those facts.
This past year has had some very difficult and intense situations in
OHGenWeb and I am still doing my duty. None of us knows what tomorrow
may bring but I plan on keeping on with my work in all of its forms."*
These are important questions and I would appreciate
an answer.
Thanks,
Sarah
