Hello, Sheila,
I understand what your contributor wants. Since it was not
presented as a transcription (in the order originally presented) to begin
with, you will not lose anything by doing what Denny is suggesting. The
point is so that you can print out all the Smith children on one page. I
am currently doing a project to sort out the children of the same surname
and parents in Cleveland. I don't even have a transcription like yours,
and am doing it with FamilySearch images. In this case we have three
separate birth sources - county, city, and birth returns.
When we did the death records for Lake County we did them in the
original order, to maintain the historic value of watching causes of
death, numbers in a year, etc. It is searchable in our site search
engine, but I kick myself now for that choice. We did do the birth
records in alpha order, and it is wonderful. You might take a look at it
at
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ohlake/vitalrec/probateb.html At
the time a file more than 10 pages took too long to download. We
considered those on dialup (like me) and some still are. It is a bit of
time and effort to rework these things, but in your case it might be
worth it for the much easier manipulation by the end user. You could
leave your annual files there and add this new offering separately.
Genially,
Cynthia Turk
Lake County, Ohio
