There is also
FamilySearch.org; they have a ton of things to transcribe, and
it can be done from anywhere. Then, you can provide a link to the
transcribed records on your county site.

I have done some huge transcription and indexing projects by obtaining
records, digitizing them, and sending out CDs. Our birth and death records
were transcribed in this way. I happened to go to Salt Lake City where they
had a digitizer, but electronic storage capability is more common now, and
some Family History Centers may have them. If not, I am finding my camera
is a pretty good way to digitize things.
You might also contact the genealogical society to see if they might
help in this endeavor. Our Society has been more than helpful, and
also provides volunteers.
Some other wonderful projects for a GenWeb site would be to
transcribe the non-population schedules or to index the veterans schedules.
When I get around to it, I am going to index the second page of the 1840
census for our county. So many people miss this page, and it has great
veteran information, even names of people living in the household which are
"stick people" on the first page. These types of records, of course are
easily found. I sometimes use the HeritageQuest Online collection because
it is free to those with library cards in this area.
Another great service is to index the biographies in the county
history and regional history books. We used to transcribe them, but since
the books we could use (out of copyright) are mostly online, an index with
instructions where to find them is very useful.
We have indexed and transcribed a lot of different kinds of things
on our Lake County OHGenWeb site. Take a look for other ideas.

I have this woman who is willing to do transcriptions for me, but
since I live in Colorado, and she is in Kansas, we don't have direct
access to records that she might transcribe. I was wondering if anyone
would have some suggestions on sources that she might work on that
would be helpful.

I live in Kansas City, Missouri, but am researching the Eli Hudson
Family from Sprigg Adams, Ohio. I would be delighted, if it is
possible, to transcribe records.
