Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Dale,
Do you have the ohgenweb.org domain in place
so that I can link with http://www.ohgenweb.org/xx
where xx is the county? Just let me know. Arne
had a great suggestion for the tombstone pages
to link to each county and that would make it
easier.

Subject: [OHGENWEB] New OHGenWeb domain and site
Well, here it is, my first official e-mail to the list.
Thank you to all who participated in the election (especially those who
voted for me!) and thank you for all of the encouraging messages I have
received.
Robert Bremer has graciously granted use of the domain ohgenweb.org for the
Ohio GenWeb project. It will be the main domain and ohgenweb.info will be
redirected to that domain and may be used for future projects.
As soon as DNS propagation has completed for me, I will begin work on a new
state site. If you have ideas of something that should be included that has
not been included before, let me know.
For the convenience of our visitors, all county links on the state site will
be [county].ohgenweb.org. That would be a redirect to your individual URL.
This will have no effect on the accessibility of any county site. It will
just be a convenience for our visitors. After a few visits, they will be
able to access any Ohio site just by remembering ohgenweb.org.
When that's done, then we can tackle other things - like lowering gas prices
& ending terrorism.

The links to Ross & Pickaway are correct, but you have my name misspelled my
first name. It was correct on the old pages just seems to be a
transposition when you placed it on the new site. It's "y" before "r". No
big hurry, but could you correct those two places when you get a moment.
Thanks

They are still at the old address because I was just creating link to them and they are at the rootsweb/ancestry address too.

I was trying to get it to drop down a menu with the same red backgrounds

scripts and I couldn't adjust either to work.
I'm doing other stuff while my brain clears.

Hey, Bill.
Job description of Secretary is something we'll have to hammer out. Later.
I'm always open to comments. Sometimes I even listen to them. <G>
I'll be 59 on August 9. Mark your calendars now. (I can't imagine me
turning 60 - me of the "don't trust anyone over 30" generation.)

Secretary. That is an honor. I'm sure that you are working on ideas to
define the position and I welcome that.

Dale, it looks like Judy Kelble was voted in May 1998 and that Patty
Lindsay was an interim SC and coordinated the election, in which Judy
became elected. It looks like Patty was SC from March 1998 to May 1998,
as she states that Gwen Oliver resigned in March 1998.
Sandy
Dale, I see on the ohgen archives list that Gwen Oliver was SC in 1996
to 1998 and that Patty Lindsay was SC in 1998 and Judy was voted in the
year 1999. What is interesting is that Patty also had Greene county
back then!

/Subject:/ [OHGEN-L] State Coordinator position
/Date:/ Sun, 5 Apr 1998 23:49:43 +0000
Gwen Oliver has resigned as State Coordinator, but is still very
interested in remaining as Archives File Manager and involved in the
USGenWeb project. She is back online now and has remained subscribed
to this list. Gwen successfully got coordinators for all 88 counties
during her tenure, something that many states are still striving for.
Thank you Gwen!
I agreed to take the Acting SC job with the stipulation that I was
not interested in being permanent SC. So now it's time to find out
who is interested in the job <g>
The USGenWeb project is slowly getting better organized and moving
toward elective positions. To that end, I propose that we fill the
State Coordinator position with an election.
The problem is that we have no by-laws for voting. So I propose that
first we have an election for voting rules. These rules will be in
effect until any rules voted by the USGenWeb project supercede them.
So now we are right back to where we started. We need voting rules
to develop voting rules (arghh!!!). We have to start somewhere, so
I'm going to arbitrarily set some based on my experience in voting
in this project plus your feedback. We'll use my rules to vote on
the voting rules. I'll continue this in my next message.

Dale,
For the history I'm going to have to dig. I'm going
to be busy tomorrow (the last three of the birthdays
this month) but I'll dig around. I remember that
Gwen started Ohio shortly after Kentucky was
started. Bill Oliver or Holly Timm might remember
more than I do. I was new back then and only
paying attention to what I was doing not what
was going on around me.

If a site leaves the OHGW then is it suppose to take off the banners for

Or should a person just let it go and forget old OHGW sites that are no

I discovered this while I was adding my own sites to the search engines.
