Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Thanks Sheila, I can fix that also.
I really thought I could get through all 88 counties webpages to check
for all the things we needed to do as CC for OHGenWeb but was unable to
make it through them all before the holidays hit us and also the other
responsibilities of being SC.
So, I will change the page back to black lettering for all our names for
the year 2006, and I want to say though that I would also like to create
a trophy for the CC's to come by and pick up for their site when they
feel it qualifies for the award. There are so many outstanding sites
now and deserving of the 2006 trophy award. I was really impressed when
I was doing checks of main pages in January. The gold lettering was
mainly a way for me to keep track of who got the trophies and who I
needed to do checks for.
Thanks!
Sandy
Denny's idea is fine with me if it is fine with the other CC's.
Majority vote will be needed to table the discussions until rootsweb has
fixed its bounce problems.
Just vote on this list.

coordinators,
Something bothers me about our county coordinators page. I am
concerned about the fact that some have the gold lettering in bold
because they received honors. And yes, it is an honor and thank you,
I do appreciate it.
However, it appears to visitors that some are singled out and to me
that does not present upfront a group effort. As a teacher I seldom
see praise to individuals in a group effort create comradeship and a
group feeling. Compliments can be made but a constant reminder
usually upsets those who for one reason or another did not receive an
award or those who did and feel singled out by the constant reminder.
I know it is to encourage and to give support to those who have done
very good work. But in this case, we all have different styles and
can find different amounts of material for the county.
May I make a suggestion. Perhaps putting the award on our page when
we receive it would be just as fulfilling. Leaving the main county
coordinators page with a list that is equal in appearance.
I created an award for PAGenweb
http://www.pagenweb.org/
to use for this purpose. It was a small type animated button and it
was placed on the opening page.
you can see it on the top of Sullivan County
http://www.rootsweb.com/~pasulliv/
however the list of coordinators and counties on the main page
remained in tack and all in appearance were equal.

Sandy & all,
I'm hoping this message will still go through even though it appears my ISP has
blocked rootsweb messages from coming through to me, at least from this list &
the Hamilton Co. list, both which are lists 5 lists, I haven't checked all of
the lists I subscribe to yet.
I have spoken to my ISP's helpdesk & sent off messages to good.mail(a)fuse.net &
postmaster(a)fuse.net as instructed. I very desperately need the full headers
(showing the path of the message which bounced) to send to them so that they can
get to the root of the problem. No doubt they will find that it is because the
new IP's for rootsweb have been blacklisted after relocating some servers, but
they will want to see & trace it themselves. Sandy, if you can send that ASAP it
would be greatly appreciated by not only me, but all with fuse mailing addresses
who subscribe to rootsweb lists.
Meanwhile, I had been following the problems rootsweb has been having since 1/19
when they relocated servers. This had happened to me before when rootsweb
upgraded and/or changed servers. It appears that Andrew Bilinghurst suspected
then that there would be a problem & requested that a message be posted to the
Listowners list with specifics when an ISP was blacklisting rootsweb.
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/Listowners/2006-01/1137604124
I don't subscribe to the list & it's probably impossible to do so currently,
but, if someone could post to the listowners list for me with the details of
Sandy's message re; my bounce & ask them to contact fuse at the above address (&
me at lboorom(a)fuse.net) I would greatly appreciate it.
I guess for now, I'll just have to keep an eye on the archives until this is
straightened out, until then, please contact me directly :-)

Brings words and photos together (easily) with
PhotoMail - it's free and works with Yahoo! Mail.
The reason I posted those to the list is in case I can't get through in
personal email is that if the CC's are checking out the list archives
they can see that the reason they didn't get the posts were because
their email bounced back to me.
As far as two of the CC's I have had persons contact me that the CC is
no longer available.
mlozer is one of those that needs to contact me and I am hoping he
checks the list archives.
Thanks!

Hi All at OHGenWeb!
I hope this email finds you all well and ready to go. I was so excited
last month to see how many of you updated your websites to 2006! Some
of you have really done great things with your websites with having the
most current links to available information for your counties and they
are great places for researchers to spend their time. Thank you for all
you have done to make OHGenWeb a great place for researchers!
It has been nearly two months now since we took a much needed break from
the guidelines voting process and now is time to start up again.
We will begin again with a three day discussion followed by a period of
voting. Please respond by Friday with your comments, thoughts on the
below article:
Motion 2005 - 01- 3
Be it resolved that the following article be included in the OHGenWeb
Project's bylaws, effective immediately upon approval by a 2/3 majority
of the legal votes cast:
The affairs of the OHGenWeb Project shall be conducted in accordance
with the most recent edition of the American Institute of
Parliamentarians' "Standard Code of Parliamentary Procedure" (aka
"Sturgis"), subordinate to U.S. laws, the bylaws of the USGenWeb
Project, these bylaws, and adopted rules.
> From this Saturday to Saturday of next week we will begin with voting.
Thank you all again, I hope you are refreshed and ready to go!
