Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

That's the new mailing list software's way of saying "don't send to this address!". Not particularly transparent, IMHO.

I haven't been seeing doubles, I think the mailing list software will suppress them if both ohgen@ and variants such as ohgen-l@ are included in the same address list.
You're probably getting doubles because people's e-mail programs are automatically including your individual address along with the list address when they reply, and they're not editing that out.

Hi, Sheila,
You can't control what people are going to use, at least for the time being. I highly recommend that you change your mail rules if at all possible to something you can depend on. Most mail programs allow you to search on something other than "To". Here's my recommendation to my mailing lists:
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
2) If you have set your e-mail program to use a filter to catch your messages and process them somehow (to move them to a folder, for example), you may need to change the filter. In particular, the To: address in the message header no longer depends on the way you receive mail, but will instead reflect what the author uses, and so could vary between any of the following:
> To: ohguerns(a)rootsweb.com
> To: ohguerns-l(a)rootsweb.com
> To: ohguerns-d(a)rootsweb.com,
If you have set up a filter to catch one of these To: addresses, you need to change it to use a standard format. Depending on the e-mail program you use, you may want to use one of the following header fields, which don't distinguish between list and digest mode:
> Sender: ohguerns-bounces(a)rootsweb.com
> X-Loop: ohguerns(a)rootsweb.com
> X-BeenThere: ohguerns(a)rootsweb.com
> List-Id: <ohguerns.rootsweb.com>
Note the latter uses a period rather than @ before "rootsweb.com", and has brackets that can help distinguish it -- it can be useful if you can only do a message-wide pattern match.

This was also something that list users were warned about by Rootsweb in their general mailing back in early August. I sent another warning around the time my list was transferred.

Osiyo Folks,
Thunderbird can also direct messages to folders using any lines one
designaes.
Sandy will have to approve this message as I've a new personal addy.

As you may know
Eudora, Qualcomm will be changing to open source the first of next year.
http://wiki.mozilla.org/Penelope
The "Penelope" project's intention is to join the Eudora® user experience with the Mozilla platform. We intend to produce a version of Eudora that is open source and based on mozilla and Thunderbird. It's *not* our intention to compete with Thunderbird; rather, we want to complement it.
--------------------------------
I assume from this new features may be added to Thunderbird. I hope they do not change Eudora too much. I have a purchased version so I will stay with Eudora.

I also am concerned that I am missing more emails. My email company is
sending my email out as windstream.net however on my computer and on my
end it is still alltel.net. I am told it is not a problem but when
someone tries to write to sandra_quinn(a)windstream.net the email just
bounces back.
Sandy
Yes, I can set up my own mailboxes to filter 2 email addresses for each list, but I was wondering if anyone might have spam filter and only have allowable addresses on and if they do they might miss some of the email or we miss them?

As I understand, rootsweb has dropped the L from the email address for lists.
I notice some of the email sent through are coming through as
OHGEN(a)rootsweb.com
and some as
OHGEN-L(a)rootsweb.com
I think the new official one is
OHGEN(a)rootsweb.com
The reason I mention this is because I use mailboxes to download and store email. It would be helpful if we all used the same email address. They both work to send, however they do not both go into the corrrect mailboxes. Perhaps the list master can check to be certain of the correct the email address.
Thank you,

I thought Robert Sizelove was the coordinator for the Ohio Cemetery Photo
Project at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/oh/tombpics/index.htm
I've been trying to contact him as well. If anyone has a current email
address I would be interested in receiving it as well.
