Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Congratulations to Allen and many thanks to Mary Ann for throwing her modem
into the ring.
And many thanks to Judy and Patty for the significant contributions they have
made to OHGenWeb and USGenWeb.

Thank You Allen for NOT following like sheep to slaughter. Your move AWAY from
Rootsweb was a very smart one.
For the rest that have not made the move back to their own servers, remember
the internet is based on distributed information NOT concentrated information!

I think you owe us an explanation. Why move an established site to your
server's location, thus breaking links all over the internet, especially
when it is located on a site that is available to any future state
coordinator? What happens when we get another state coordinator in the
future? Will the state page be arbitrarily moved again?

Hi All,
I would like to thank each and every one of "my" County Coordinators for
all the time and effort you have put into OHGenWeb and your respective
county web sites. Together we have made OHGenWeb a really good place to do
research. That makes me feel very good.
A very big Congratulations to Allen Richmond. I know that OHGenWeb will
only get bigger and better as we move along under his wing. Allen, as I have
said before, has been a tremendous help to Ohio, not only during my year,
but over the past several years. We owe you, Big Guy!
Allen, I look forward to working with you in the future. I have been to
the 'new' OHGenWeb site and really like what you have done with it. Again,
Congratulations!! AND thank you.
Congratulations also to Mary Ann. You've come a LONG way, Baby! You
started scared to death and look at you now! You have done a lot of great
things in just the last six months.
Peace, Judy
The Past, Done had it, Twas fun, Glad I did it, Glad I'm out, X-SC of
OHGenWeb
I'd like to add my congratulations to Allen, may the SC hat
fit him well.
Mary Ann, thank you for running, it was great to have you on the
ballot.
I've sent my resignation as ASC to both Allen and Judy, and Allen has
accepted it. It's time for Allen to bring in some new blood if he
decides he needs some help. I've been over-extended for quite awhile
now.
Judy ... you've done a wonderful job this past year, and I appreciate
it very much. You really have turned OHGenWeb around into a good
thing to be a part of it. I knew you could do it! <g> Three cheers
for Judy::

Let us know the final official tally, Wally and Bernice, and we'll
make the appropriate update on the notice page at the state site.

My hat is also off to Judy! It's been a wonderful pleasure serving
with her as (now former) Assistant State Coordinator. I know she has
some fun things in store for herself, and we all wish her the best of
luck in the family hunt. :-D
I'd also like to tip my hat to Mary Ann Hetrick. She's a real trooper
for stepping up to the plate. ;-)

I have them also, so I'll get right to work.
Thanks everyone - and let's collectively make this project the best
for *everyone* involved!
Thanks!

The OHGenWeb Election

State Coordinator
Votes must be received by 23:59:59 PST March 27th 1999
We urge ALL OHGenWeb County Coordinators to VOTE!
--------------------------------------------------
HOW TO VOTE
You will be voting for ONE State Coordinator.
The Candidates are shown below with URLs to their 'campaign pages':
Allen Richmond http://www.scioto.org/SciotoTrails/OHGW/campaign99.html
Mary Ann Hetrick http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~hetrick/temp/scelect.htm
In the ballot below you may erase everything above the top "-=-=-=-" line
and everything below the bottom "-=-=-=-" line. Do NOT erase anything
between these lines and do not change the names. Whether you delete above
and below the "-=-=-=-" lines will not affect your vote.
Place a YES in the brackets next to the name of the candidate that you wish
to vote for. If you do not want to vote for a particular person, just leave
the space blank. Do not worry about spacing of the columns or any quote
characters (">") that your reply inserts.
Then mail the ballot to: "Wally Garchow" & "Bernice Wilson"
wally(a)calweb.com, bernicew(a)1st.net
Just Replying to this message will not work <sorry>. In order to have a
'secret ballot', please send to the above e-mail addresses. I've placed
them on the same line so you may cut&paste more easily in your mailer. If
you hit REPLY in your mailer, be sure to correct the TO: field to the above
addresses! RE-voting will cancel your previous vote.
-=-=-=-=-=- Don't Delete Anything Between These Lines =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
[ Vote ] Candidate (in alphabetical order)
---------------------------------------------
[ ] Mary Ann Hetrick
[ ] Allen Richmond
-=-=-=-=-=- Don't Delete Anything Between These Lines =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
You may also ABSTAIN in place of YES - this will not affect the outcome.
Anything else will be rejected.
The votetaker will respond to your received ballots with a personal
acknowledgement by mail - if you do not receive one within several days, try
again. It's your responsibility to make sure your vote is registered
correctly.
Only one vote per CC will be counted. If you vote more than once, only your
most recent vote will be counted. If you have volunteers and assistants,
please arrange your vote with them before voting. ONLY vote totals for each
candidate will be published in the final voting results list.

I've never met Doug. He once did me a favor regarding Shelby Co. burial
records. He told me something about that part of the county having a Black
population. He also regularly comments (on the Darke Co. discussion list)
about the Longtown settlement in Darke Co. which was remarkable for its
mixed-blood population. I really don't know whether he has a web site or
materials in ASCII. Good luck!

We have Hocking County back on the Adoption block.
That makes both Hocking and Perry are looking for someone with enough

The History Channel is showing a program called "The River Pirates" this
Thursday and repeat on Friday. Check your local listings for time.
In Search Of History.
Take a ride down the Ohio River to a place known as Cave-in Rock, where
Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky border. There you'll meet some of the
earliest
frontier outlaws who preyed on settlers traveling the river to the west.
Samuel Mason, who converted the cavern into a tavern, bordello, and
gambling
house, is profiled, among others. (cc) [TV PG]
