A caution about the "USGenWeb archives" for those who might be thinking
about putting some information online.
The document that was mentioned links to a copyright notice with this
phrase: "The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives
to store the file permanently for free access."
Seems innocent enough. Free access is good, right? However, if you
later decide that you no longer want your document online:
- because it contains errors which you aren't able to fix right away,
- because you've changed your mind about sharing the data,
- any other reason at all,
you WILL NOT be able to remove it. (Unless the rules have changed
The Wyoming County archive site at
does not have this problem - you can add, delete and change materials
as you like.
Also, note that many of the Wyoming Co. cemetery lists in
the USGenWeb Archives are no longer current. For example, a more
up-to-date version of St. Vincent's in Attica (from the same author), is
