Seeking obituary of John Jordan who died January 26, 1850 in Pike, Wyoming County, NY in home of his youngest daughter,
Margaret Julia Jordan Phelps. His body was taken from Pike and he was buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Friendship,

*Program Description: *The Livingston County Historian's Office, located in
Mt. Morris, N.Y, has a large repository of historical archives dating back
to the early 19th century. With a full-time County Historian and a public
research center open to the public every weekday, the office has greatly
expanded genealogical services with a vast online search engine, links to
digital resources, and more. Now researchers are able to more quickly find
information they are seeking. This program will explore the various
programs and services the Livingston County Historian's Office provides,
the types of resources available, and how to access them. Most at no charge.
*About the Speaker: *Ms. Alden is a native of Geneseo, Livingston County
and has worked in the County Historian's Office since 1997, first as deputy
for seven years before being appointed full time county historian in 2004.
Her responsibilities include: overseeing the activities of the 17
Livingston County town historians; management of the county’s history
research center; presenting public programs on local history; and research
She co-authored *The Sullivan Campaign of the Revolutionary War: The Impact
on Livingston County 1779 – 2004* and *Sentimental Journey; The Photography
of Jason Sanford Hewitt*; and was editor of *Blue Devils in Vietnam:
Geneseo Central School, New York Vietnam Veterans chronicle their lives
before, during, and after the war*. She is currently working on a new book
entitled *An Ideal Spot: The History of Murray Hill, Mt. Morris, N.Y.*
Ms. Alden is a founding organizer and past-Executive Chair of the
Government Appointed Historians of Western New York and served on the
Regional Advisory Board of the Rochester area Documentary Heritage Program
for several years. She is currently serving on the New York State
Historical Records Advisory Board.
