Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I should have put a bit more thought into my original
message; I will re-post below.
I am attempting to become aware of any organization, in this
county, that considers itself to have a genealogical
function. Genealogical function may include, but is not
limited to,genealogical societies, lineage societies, historical
societies, libraries with local history and genealogical
collections and archives and family societies. If your
organization is in existence, with many or few members, please contact me.
My request is both for my individual research and to share
with my fellow researchers who are members to the New York
State Council of Genealogical Organizations.
Thank you and I appreciate all information received, you may
also contact me off list if you would like.
Interested in any Genealogical Societies that may be within
Do all interested individuals participate in the Genesee
Area Genealogists or
are there other groups (locality or special interest)?
Grateful for any information, thank you.
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Ralph Earl PRESTON which was taken at
the F. M. Smith Studio in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. The photograph appears to
have been taken in the 1880's with Ralph's age noted as 12 years at the
time. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following
information regarding Ralph and his family:
Ralph Earl PRESTON was b. 10 Jun 1874 in Mount Pleasant, MI to parents
Wallace Worth PRESTON (b. 9 Oct 1837) and Arsenath WOODWORTH (b. 21 Jun 1841
in Java Township, NY - d. 1916). Ralph was one of three children born to
this couple including, Worth; Anna B.; and Ralph Earl PRESTON, all born
between 1864 and 1874. Ralph married Amanda Rathbone FANCHER (b. 23 Mar
1887 in Mt Pleasant, MI) and together they had a son, Ralph "Bun" E. PRESTON
Jr. b. 22 Feb 1910 in Detroit, MI.
Census records provide the following details:
1880 census of Union, MI:
Wallace W. PRESTON, age 42, a Farmer, born NY, parents born VT
Anesenth PRESTON, wife, age 38, Keeping House, born NY, parents born VT/MA
Worth PRESTON, son, age 15, Clerking in Store, born MI
Anna PRESTON, dau, age 9, born MI
Ralph PRESTON, son, age 5, born MI
+ 1 Laborer + 1 Boarder
1910 census of Detroit, MI:
Ralph E. PRESTON, age 34, married 1 year, born MI, parents born NY, a Lawyer
Amanda PRESTON, wife, age 28, married 1 year, 1 child/1 living, born MI,
parents born WI/OH
Ralph R. PRESTON, son, age 2 months, born MI

Ralph E. PRESTON, age 45, born MI, parents born MI, a Lawyer
Amanda PRESTON, wife, age 37, born MI, parents born WI/OH
Ralph E. PRESTON Jr., son, age 9, born MI
I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be
returned to its rightful place, with family. If you are a member of this
PRESTON Family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
