I've "rescued" two old photographs of Lizzie LEE SCHUTT. One of them was
taken at the William Mabies Gallery in Canaseraga, New York and is dated
1890 with Lizzie appearing to be in her 20's at the time. The other has no
studio or location listed, but appears to have been taken in the 1890's with
Lizzie most likely in her 30's. Based on limited research I was able to
locate the following information regarding Lizzie and her family:
Elizabeth Jennette "Lizzie" LEE was b. 24 May 1866 in Allegany Co. NY to
parents Benjamin Henry LEE (1828-1897) and Mary Esther BENTLEY (1834-1900).
Lizzie was one of 11 children born to this couple including, Allen; Mary
Elvira; William Henry; Artelissa L.; Adelaide "Addie"; Elmer C.; Lizzie; Ira
A.; James Davis; Cora May; and Herbert B. "Bert" LEE, all born between 1850
and 1874. Lizzie first married Frank SHUTT with whom she had a daughter
Blanche SHUTT b. 1887. Lizzie's second marriage was to Charles L. MCINTYRE
(1861-1951) with whom she had two more daughters, Hazel MCINTYRE b. 1894 and
Katherine MCINTYRE b. 1906. Lizzie died in Perry, NY on 22 Aug 1943.
Census records provide the following:
1870 census of Granger, NY:
Benjamin LEE, age 40, a Boatman, born NY
Esther LEE, age 33, Keeping House, born NY
Henry LEE, age 15, a Farm Laborer, born NY
Adda LEE, age 10, born NY
Elmer LEE, age 6, born NY
Lizzie LEE, age 3, born NY
Ira LEE, age 1, born NY
I am hoping to locate someone from Lizzie's family so that these wonderful
old photographs can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this
family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
I know some of you noticed something new had been added to SAMPUBCO
Right now, only the New York Gravestone Photo Project name lists at the
moment, which will be updated monthly per county as needed.
There will be other cemetery lists that are not of this particular
project, particular the old lists which were recorded 1940s or before.
The reason for the cemetery burial lists - they provide clues to where
the probate records may be.
The link to NY GPP is provided on each county page for quick search for
full details and to see photos. To obtain photo, you need to contact the
submitter for permission (they own the photos, not me, under copyright law.)
