Peter S Stephens was born in Prussia Feb 12, 1844, and came to
Attica NY around 1953 with his parents (unknown). He fought in
the Civil War, then returned to Attica and married Amelia
Sangbush, b. Dec 17, 1846 in Germany, daughter of Henry Sangbush
and Caroline Schlafman, Dec 10, 1868, at the German Lutheran Church
in Attica. The service was performed by Minister George Lanster.
They moved to Illinois in 1869.
Possible relatives are a John Stephens and his wife Margaret,
and August Sangbush.
Looking for more information on the Stephens or Sangbush line,
or on the German Lutheran Church.
Thanks in advance

I would like to make contact with anyone researching the Ashley name, circa 1750 - 1860. William, m. to Lucretia (?). Son, Amos A. m. to Mariah Reynolds, living in Covington area, Wyoming County, NY in 1850. William Ashley served in the Mexican War under General Winfield Scott, along with Benjamin Reynolds, father of Mariah. David and Benjamin are other common first names in this family.
Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.
I am looking for the TOWER, POTTER, WOODRUFF, BARNES, and THOMPSON
Cornelius TOWER moved from Cohassett, MA to Warsaw, NY sometime prior to
1800, as he married Abigail ("Abby" or "Nabby") POTTER circa 1798. Abby
was born in Paris, NY, but they lived in Warsaw. Abby's parents appear
to have been Lydia BARNES and Lemuel POTTER, whose parents are listed as
Rhoda WOODRUFF and Joel POTTER.
Cornelius and Abby had 10 known children: George Rodney, born in 1799,
Mary, Daniel Woodruff, Sprague, Mariah, Laura, William C., Henry, Lemuel
P(otter?), and Lydia Ann. Cornelius died in 1849 in Warsaw, but was
disinterred and moved to Michigan for reburial, next to his Abby, who
died in 1855.
Their first-born, George Rodney TOWER married Olive THOMPSON circa 1824,
and her parents are listed as Olive (of the vast UNKNOWN family) and
Jona THOMPSON. At some point the family moved on to Michigan, as they
show up there in the 1860 census.
What can you tell me about any of these families? Thanks!

11 July 1918: FRANK MEHLENBACHER - Frank Mehlenbacher one of
the prominent and well-known residents of Dansville, died
from a heart trouble Monday night, July 3, 1918, at the age
of 66 years, having been born in the town of Wayland August
6, 1852, his father being Louis Mehlenbacher, a farmer who
came from Germany. Mr. Mehlenbacher worked on a farm several
years when young and he came here about forty years ago,
purchasing the present residence of Mrs. B.C. Allen up Main
street and keeping a grocery and hotel, later purchasing and
keeping a hotel and bottling works near the D and M ____, now
part of the Blum Shoe Mfg Co's plant, then after spending a
year on a farm he opened the Farmers Home in 1893 where he
lived until he died.
In 1876, he married Elisabeth Weber in Dansville, and in
1891, both of them went to Germany to visit the homeland of
their parents where they remained about a year. On his
return, he developed some artistic taste and in his leisure
hours he painted pictures of the old parental home in Germany

church in the yearly meetings of Synod. He was a good

I am looking for any information on my g-grandfather, Frank J. MCCORMICK, b. abt 1877 in Java Center. His wife, Gertrude COOLEY, and their first two children were all born in Michigan so it sounds like he moved to Michigan as I have read that so many from Wyoming County had done.
Does anyone have access to the 1880 NY census that can look for him in a family? I live 5 min from the Ohio Historical Society and I will gladly trade this lookup for any lookup that anyone needs in Ohio.
