"Work of the Grand Jury"
The Grand Jury finished its labors on Wednesday. The following is the list
George W. MADDEN, grand larceny, second degree, pleaded not guilty.
Edward LYNCH, rape, pleaded not guilty.
Antonio TANGLADI, assault in second degree, pleaded not guilty.
Valentine PAINE and Richard MURPHY, assault in the second degree, pleaded not
Thomas HARRISON, grand larceny, second degree, pleaded not guilty.
Robert CONWAY and J. W. BROWN, grand larceny, second degree. The former
pleaded guilty and asked for the mercy of the court of account of age. The
latter pleaded not guilty.
John WELSH, grand larceny, second degree. District Attorney GALLAGHER stated
that inasmuch as the prisoner did not take the watch of Supervisor BECHTEL he
was willing to accept a plea of guilty of the attempt to commit grand
larceny. He pleaded not guilty.
George W. MANNING, grand larceny, pleaded not guilty
James MACKANENY, participating in a riot in town of Middletown, pleaded not
guilty and was placed under $300 bail.
James LESTRANGE, riot, pleaded not guilty
William J. GUNETT, riot pleaded not guilty.
