There is a John Lecil and family in the 1900 census for Ward 1 of the Richmond Borough;
this is the only significant mention of Lecil in any census. One of my cousins, with whom
our aunt Leo spoke, remembers that "Colonel" Lecil was thought to be from New
York and may have been buried there. Leo died in 1978.
Another cousin, with whom Leo also spoke in the mid-1950s, only knew that Leo and the
"Colonel" supposedly married about 1914 and then left the USA for Europe.
Wilson was thought to be somehow involved in military intelligence, but we don't think
it was American; possibly another country's service. Wilson signed grant deeds with
Leo in Dallas County, Texas, in 1954, then vanishes from records. There does not appear
to be a marriage certificate anywhere.
This is the most secretive person I've come across in my genealogical searches; he
does not appear in any census, nor do his relatives, whose portraits I have, along with
Wilson's. Any clues or leads you might have are desperately needed. Many thanks for
just your reply.
