Hello to all
I am still researching the background of Samuel Wann who lived on Staten
Island about 1850 to 1875.
I would like to find out exactly where he lived on Staten Island.
Information from Samuel Wann's obituary (1905, NY Times) states "he was for
many years a well known resident of Staten Island, where he maintained an
extensive place on Todt Hill" and it continues " the Wann farmhouse stands
on property now used by the Staten Island Country Club."
In 1888 NY Times reports on the opening of the new Staten Island Country
Club - the Richmond County Country Club on the Clove Road, stating that it
is the only club of its kind on or near Staten Island.
Webbs Directory 1886 lists Samuel as a merchant Catlin (?Ave).
I recently contacted the Richmond Country Club (Flagg Place) by email as
listed on their website, but my email bounced.
Would someone who knows the area, or who can advise me on tracing former
places of residence, please suggest a next step for my search.
Any help would be appreciated.
