Hello Staten Island researchers!
What a crying shame! The non-profit group, Friends of Abandoned Cemeteries of Staten Island (FACSI) was
fined a hefty $ 20,000. by the City of New York for an innocent fund raising mistake.
If you're unfamiliar with FASCI, they clean and maintain 12 olde-tyme cemeteries throughout Staten Island.
Voluntarily! You just can't perform this type of work running spooky Halloween tours. Can you imagine how
much money FASCI saves the NYC DPW? You know...union-wage employees, trucks, tools, gas, and equipment.
This has got to be an example of "No good deed goes unpunished!"
Here are two Find-A-Grave listings for two FASCI cemeteries. There may be more.
