I am looking for info on Elijah Tompkins who was a tenant on Lot 8, in what is now
Patterson, land once belonging to Margaret Ogilvie. Ogilvie later gave this farm to Thomas
Belden (her estate manager) who then sold it to Simeon Perry, who was already a tenant on
the land. The deed describes it as the farm "originally laid out for Elijah

I think this Elijah Tompkins is also the one mentioned in the testimony of Nimham
regarding claims to his land (Pelletreau p. 77).
What I want to know is, what more is known of this Elijah Tompkins? When did he come to
the area? Where did he go after? Did he have family? Is he related to the Tompkinses who
lived in the western part of the county (Putnam Valley)?
Any help appreciated.
