Hello descendants of Asa Adams who live in the Putnam County area.
Would like to include a picture of Asa Adams' home in connecction with his genealogy
which I will soon be posting to the web. If any of you have a copy you would like to
share, I'm sure it would be appreciated by his descendants who don't live in the
Asa Adams' homestead is located in that little triangle which was originally part of
Carmel added to P.V. Asa lived in that section and his house was still standing when I was
there nearly 20 years ago. Pete Seeger's brother in law, John Cohen bought it and
assume it is still there. (Check the name on the mailbox)
In the Handbook put out by the County Historian's Office (in Brewster) they list
having a video tape called "Fifty Miles from Times Square, Putnam County NY" by
John Cohen (??the same). Bet that there is a picture of Asa's house in it. Keep
hoping someone will check it out.
Asa's house sits close to the road at an angle and was red if I remember right. Of
course someone else may have painted it white by now.
Someone typed up a little page on Asa (which has errors in it that descendants are still
getting incensed about) but it says that Asa's house was beyond the Tompkins Corners
Church on same side of road. The house went to son George and you can get a fairly good
idea of the location from the 1861 map of the area. I remember it as being on Peekskill
