Judy Wolf and I are seeking to send a message to Janet Welch, New York State
Librarian & Assistant Commissioner for Libraries. We may be butting our
heads against a wall but we won't know unless we try now, will we?
We would appreciate your support in regard to this on-line petition which
seeks to provide a benefit to the Historical and Genealogical Community as
well as all New York taxpayers and researchers STATEWIDE.
ONLY New York State residents are eligible to sign this petition which
respectfully requests Ms. Welch to and investigate all means by which STATE
FUNDING can be utilized to provide holders of valid New York State Public
Library Cards with REMOTE on-line internet access to HeritageQuest Online, a
collection of online databases including original U.S. census records,
Revolutionary War pension applications, more than 20,000 local and family
history books, Freedman's Bank records, AND ProQuest Historical Newspapers,
including the New York Times Historical Newspapers 1851-2003.
Please visit the Link Below to read and sign this Petition, if you agree
with what it is trying to accomplish.
This is being posted to the Dutchess, Cayuga, Rennselaer, Putnam and
Westchester NY County Roots Lists. If you subscribe to other NY County
lists - feel free to forward the message on to any list not given here.
However be sure to notify the list you are doing this so that not everyone
forwards to the same list and we overwhelm the servers. Also feel free to
pass this on to any other New York Residents you know who might be
interested in signing.
Best and Thanks In Advance for your support. Together Perhaps We Can Make a
