There is a good series of maps on the Kent Historians site. The person looking for the
Kent family posted on this site. http://www.putnamcountyny.com/historian/placename.html
Kent is a Township or Town. Carmel Town is another Township and share a boundary with
Kent. There is a section called Kent Cliffs but don't think it would qualify as even
a village. No village of Kent that I have ever heard of. There is however a village
called Carmel (small city now). Putnam county is subdivided into Towns which have
boundaries defined by law and cover an area. In NY, towns (small "t") or
villages are usually called hamlets.

Subject: [NYPutnam] Kent & Carmel
Will someone please tell me how close Kent & Carmel are to each other. Is
Kent a tiny village? Did early Frederickstown include both Kent & Carmel?
Thanks very much for your help.
