I apologize for the lengthy delay in response to your e-mail. As you may be
aware our research is done entirely by volunteers, unfortunately the
volunteer who had been keeping up with the e-mail moved out of the area some
time ago. Sadly, I must also inform you that the Historical Society is
undergoing a major renovation at this time with the intent of being better
able to serve the public, but this has required us to but all our research
materials in off-site storage. We would be happy to assist you once our
renovation is finished, but are unable to access our files at this time.
Please feel free to e-mail me at any time as I will be checking and
responding to any e-mails that now come in. Once again I am sorry we cannot
be of more assistance at this time.

The clue to my family mystery may be sitting in the files of the Putnam
County Historical Society and Foundry School Museum in Cold Spring, but my
messages to the address given for genealogy research queries keep bouncing.
According to what I see on the web about their schedule, trying to reach
them by long-distance phone doesn't sound promising. Is there anyone who
could put me in touch with someone from the Society? The surnames I'm
interested in are in their genealogy index.
Thanks for any help,
