Russ,
The proper address is - nystlawr-subscribe(a)rootsweb.com with subscribe in
the subject line and again in the body.

Hi Tim,
Prior to changes, I was a 'list admin' for the St. Lawrence county list.
I'm still happy to help out and I thought I was properly subscribed but I'm
seeing no activity other than people from outside the list. Those messages
are forwarded to me for approval or discard as in the past (except a few
more clicks to actually view their messages).
I'm pretty sure I did generate a message with 'subscribe' in the header
and detail of the message and that it was successfully sent - but since
then I still get nothing but the outsider messages via the rootsweb
automated system.
Can you send me a proper subscription link and I'll retry. I am retired
now and will occasionally answer various queries from the message board.
Thanks -
Russ Sprague
for St. Lawrence Co.

Subject: [NYGEN] new URL and mailing lists
Rockland county has moved from Rootsweb. It's new URL is
http://rockland.nygenweb.net/
Please make a note of this if you link to this county.
Like many other things Rootsweb has changed how visitors subscribe to
mailing lists, how list administrators work on the lists. For those of you
who offer visitors information on joining your county's mailing list you
may now refer them to:
https://mailinglists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/listindexes/search/NYxxxxxx -
where xxxxxx equals the up to the first six letters of the county name.
This will describe the list to visitors and tell them how to subscribe,
unsubscribe and search the list archives.
If you don't belong to your county's mailing list, you may wish to join
because it is often a great place to get volunteers to assist you in
obtaining data, help in typing data, offering answers to questions visitors
to your site may ask you that you don't know the answer.
As of this evening 15 counties remain on Rootsweb of which I'm aware 9 have
committed to move elsewhere of which 6 are those I'm the coordinator for.
Tim
