Please put the source or where these can be found on the list for other
interested people. I am descended from Abigail Cannon of Cannonsville. I
am looking for any information on her or her husband Hemen Owens.

Subject: [NYDELAWA-L] 1851 Delhi Coverlet at Campbell Auction

Greetings to all,
Well we survived the Campbell Auction in Andes-Didn't buy a thing!!
To those who have been so helpful in identifying the coverlet and it's history THANK
YOU!!
For those who are like me and responded that they hate to see things go from where the
originated you will be very happy to know the Coverlet went from one historic Andes
farm-the Campbell's- to another historic Andes farm The Gladstone's. Mr.
Gladstone purchased the coverlet-
$8,000.00
hope no one's heart quit on that amount, we all thought Chuck McIntosh was going to
pass out!! His highest coverlet to date was $2600.00 so he really broke that record.
There was also an original Jay Gould Map of Delaware County, they found rolled up in the
attic. Mr. Gladstone also purchased that, I have to admit to visiting when the hammer
went down on that one, but the last I heard was $700.
The items were beautiful and went for very large amounts of money, a good many dealers
left early-there were no bargains to be had.
It's sad to see such a historical part of the counties history go up to the highest
bidder, but it happens all over. However on this day, history remains in the town where
it started- and that does this historians heart good.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend
