You may be a barrel of confused monkeys (which means you're qualified to
run for the Senate or House :-) ) but wait until the monkeys start marrying
first and second cousins...like I've found in my father's family...and then
things really get confusing.
Or when the family passes nicknames down which mean nothing to us today.
Had a Shaver in the lineage...nicknamed "Rock Eddy" Shaver. Couldn't find
anything about him until I looked at one of the maps for Del Co and found
Rock Eddy as part of a river.
It's like it's a giant jigsaw puzzle and you don't know what sort of a
picture you're putting together.

Subject: [NYDELAWA-L] Stevens/McBride HELP
Greetings to all,
Isn't it funny how one little phone call turns into a days work!?!
I've been on the phone with Mary from Hancock-what a can of worms she's
opened-it's still up in the air if it's good or not. But here goes-feel
free to say oh my that's a monkey from my tree and let me know!
May 11, 1889
Josiah or Joseph Stevens age 42 born in Patterson NJ. Married Minnie
19. This is my mysterious Minnie Carl Stevens Ward-notice I
didn't have a McBride in there- now I have to add it-Good Gosh Grannie!! It
lists Minnie's parents as John Carl and Laurettie Edwards and the DOB is the
same, so it's her, just another hubby to add to the list.
In 1897 my grandfather James Corbett Stevens was born in Harvard, town of
In 1091 Eli Stevens was born but died 5 mos later of pneumonia.
Now in 1903 Joseph or Josiah Married Lenna Voght in the Town of Hancock-
checking on ages here.
But Minnie Stevens (Yep my Minnie) Married Ira Ward in Trout Brook
Colchester in 1914.
Oh, She had a daughter Margaret Carl in there somewhere, we still
found her birth certificate, unfortunately Aunt Margaret died several
ago so I can't ask ?'s. I remember her clearly, she looked like Mimi from
the Drew Carey show-very colorful. Considering her mother's past?!?
However there is still the McBride's- is anyone out there a McBride from
Hancock, Livingston Manor area?
My Uncle Leonard Stevens has told me umpteen million times that they are
father's (James Stevens) 1/2 brothers. Of course me and my wonderful
historian's knowledge has said it isn't possible (WRONG!). Now I have to
eat crow and say well since your grandmother was married and having kids
before 19 I guess your right.
We found a Lawrens McBride and an Estella Ida McBride born to Abraham
and Minerva Jane McBride. Mary is checking to see if this
could be Minnie-what do you think the chances are?
I'm going to find a Tylenol and work in the garden for a
where family trees aren't growing quite as fast as this one
If anyone can help I'd REALLY appreciate it-if you find your a branch of
tree WELCOME!! We're a barrel of confused monkeys!!
