Samuel Preston was one of the earliest settlers of Wayne County, founder of
Stockport. He was a Quaker from Bucks County and Philadelphia. In addition
to his appearance in "The Winding Delaware" and every other Wayne County
history, the Equinunk Historical Society sells a biography, "Samuel Preston:
from Buckingham to Buckingham." He was one of the first judges in Wayne
County and a very prominent citizen. I don't think he had any daughters in
Delaware Co., but I don't really know for sure. Unfortunately, the book is
not indexed, but I was able to abstract the following:
21 Sept. 1795 Samuel Preston married Marcia Jenkins at Stockport.
24 Aug. 1796 Paul S. Preston born to Samuel & Marcia.at Stockport.
21 Dec. 1797 Hannah and Samuel Preston born to Samuel & Marcia at
20 Mar. 1802 Warner Mifflin Preston born to Samuel & Marcia at Stockport.
I may well have missed other children, but if the above is correct, Hannah
Preston was Samuel's only daughter.

Subject: [NYDELAWA-L] Sam Preston in "Winding Delaware"
Would anyone know who this Sam Preston was and who his descendents
Anyone having the book, could you tell me what it says about this Sam
Preston. I'm looking for a Preston lady in Delaware County who gave birth
to Gilbert Northrup in 1833 in Franklin, Delaware County, NY. Thanks for
anything helpful. Annette Campbell
