I visited Andes, Delhi and Walton on July 5-7. I had a wonderful time
being in the area that my 2- 3-4th great grandparents lived.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to find some specific information.
Munsell's book the History of Delaware Co. gives a good history of
Andes. He names Cornelius, his brothers Francis and John and father
John Monroe' "Andes Village to 1860 gives the lots Ebenezer owned
and several land transactions he made from 1810. Ebenezer's lot 55
was 160 acres which now included the area where the present Andes
Hotel is located and Andes Cemetery on Tremperskill. He sub let 40
acres to Henry Dowie in 1812. Dowie's location is on Gould's 1869
map, available on line at
There is another Cornelius S. Bassett that comes up in most searches.
He is a nephew.
Does anyone have any further information on Cornelius Bassett b 1789
Chilmark Ma. died unknown M abt 1819 Elizabeth Cushing b 1798, died
