I ask because my ancestor's brother Caleb Hill of Wallkill Ulster/Orange (born
1756 Dutchess Co) married Rebecca Rose and there is an assortment of Isaac Rose
Hills in that line. Sounds like a Clue to me. Oh - also a son of Caleb and
Rebecca, Philander Hill, married Bathea Rose.

Our first Rose is John bc 1771 who I believe was born in eastern
York, possibly the Oblong area when NY and Ct and Mass were still arguing
over who owned it. John Rose first shows up in the town of Colchester after
he married Rhoda Crippen c1797. John's youngest daughter Christina said both
her parents were born in New England (1880 Census).
