I am sending copies of some of the info I have on my Jonathan...hoping someone recognizes
any of thge people in the deeds....I want to find out where Jonathan was born....He was
supposed to have been born in 1819 in Greene Co. but I have no info. Jonathan died in
Meriden Ct..and is buried in West Cemetery..
Jonathan Griffin's occupation on our copy of the 1850 Federal Census
is "Harness maker and tanner & currier, Carriage trimmer and trunk maker".
The listing for the Griffin family on the 1855 State Census is as follows: 1855
census, Town of Harpersfield
Fam # 124
Griffin, Jonathan 36M Greene 1 6 photography
Griffin, Deborah A, 28 F wife, Delaware 1 28
Griffin, Julian A. 9M child, Delaware re 6
Griffin, Byron D. 7M child, Delaware re 6
Griffin, Charlotte A 6F child Delaware re 6
Griffn, Florence E 1 F child Del
How, Orlando B. 25 M Boarder Greene 2 carriage trimmer
The 1 indicates married. The numbers after that are the years the person
lived in the Town. It could indicate that Deborah is a second wife. The
occupation for Jonathan in 1860 is peddlar. The children are Julian A.
(male), Byron, Charlotte A. and Florecne E.
