I am looking for more information on these two people. born abt 1816, died abt 1876, in
Delaware County, NY. Statira Webb was said to be 100% indian and lived with family on
Webb Hill most likely. Smith Kenyon's father was James Kenyon as far as I can tell
using DNA information from another person. I have county records verifying their marriage
in Delhi, NY in 1841. I don't know who Statira's parents were and have searched
high and low. The indians of Webb Hill would not have been included in any census, as
Indians were not included in the censuses. However, I do assume that the Webb Indians had
assimilated into the White man's culture.
I do have this quote from memoirs of a family member descended from Smith Kenyon of
Statira's supposed father to be James Webb. ""My great grandfather, Smith
Kenyon, married an Indian by the name of Statira Webb from Kortright, New York. James
Webb, father of Statira is buried on Kinyon Hill, Kortright, Delaware County. They
(Statira and Smith) had other children named Mary, Agusta and Helen, but I don't
remember about them. Source: "Etta and the Kenyons of Delaware County" pg
If anyone has more information on these people, it would be much appreciated. You can
