A friend contacted me about an article in the Walton, NY newspaper from
the Town Clerk. Does anyone know what date that was in? It read:
"All persons interested in doing medical research or genealogical studies
MUST contact the New York State Department of Vital Records. There is no
provision in the law for the local registrar to provide this service."

Information is being contacted. There have been many complaints about
the refusal of this clerk in providing the vital records to anyone.
Please send me a message via personal email about problems you have had
with this clerk. The law clearly states that those are public records and
that is the clerk's job to provide the public access to the information.
As Robert Freeman stated previously: She is either misinformed or
writing her own laws.
I am also typing up a copy of a memorandum Robert Freeman sent me which
shows the agreement with the Health Dept that it is not necessary to
prove that the bride and groom must be deceased in order to get a
marriage certificate after 50 years. Print out a copy for your file in
case you should need it. The NYS Health Dept has not circulated it to
the Clerks of NYS but continue to restock their standard form that states
you need the proof of the deaths of the couple. This will be in a
