I've made most of the plans for the Gathering so to keep everyone up to date,
so you can make plans. It's 4 months away-plenty of time to finalize travel
plans and make room reservations.
It's Saturday July 29th in Delhi New York, the county seat for Delaware
County. 9am-4pm and a dinner to follow around 6pm, while some expressed
interest in the Old School house inn, in Downsville others have said it's
quite a distance way from Delhi and traveling in the dark on unfamiliar roads
isn't something that they want to do. No matter which route you take to
downsville there is a big mountain range to go over. Since those of you who
went last year enjoyed the Andes Hotel and it's only 10 miles or so from
Delhi, on a major flat road, I think going there makes sense again.
I have rented the Delhi Senior Meal site, which is $45.00 for the day. We
have access to the kitchen so you can warm up your lunch and we can have
coffee and tea. There are plug ins for computer etc...
The Senior Meal site is of course Handicap Accessible and less than a
football field away from the Delaware County Court house, (and on the same
side of the street) you can see door to door. So we will all be close
together. The street fair is that day as well, this will give our families
something to do while we do the real important stuff. WIth the street fair
is always food, Millers Bar-B-Q usually sets up right in front of the Meal
Site for that day, usually between $6-7 for a dinner, there is lots of places
to get food and goodies, so those of you who have to travel don't have to
worry on that matter.
I have talked to Tom Mills our Sheriff, he will set aside a few parking spots
for our Handicapped members to park behind the court house. If you are in
DIRE need of a close place to park please let me know, as you can imagine
with the fair parking is a problem. we may have to put together a shuttle
system if we have a big turn out, as no parking is allowed on main street
I will have things set up in the meal site by 9 am so any early risers can
come and park behind the County Building across the street from the court
house. Mr Mills suggested a tag system for our group who need to be in the
handicapped places behind the court house,or behind the County Building
(further distance to walk) so if you need the space let me know and I will
send out a tag for you to put on your dash. I think we have 5-6 spaces
behind the court house, so if I get a lot of requests I may need to ask for
The thaught of having everyone close together in a central location to all
the activity would make it an enjoyable day for us as well as our families,
we can come and go as we like to the court house or to browse the fair or to
rest our weary feet and minds at the Meal Site.
While parking may be a issue, if we can find long lost family members who
have changed their names, remarried etc... parking isn't a challenge, just
another record with the wrong information.
Enjoy the day
