I recently found index of "Probate Records Before 1900" on the great
Delaware Co rootsweb, and found a will listed for my ancestor.
In calling the surrogate office in Delhi, I was told to write to them
requesting the will and send information on ancestor. They would check the
record and write and tell me how much it would cost and then I could send
them a check. They would put my request in a stack of requests one inch
high. When I asked approximately how much time was involved was told, "When
they get to it". The conversation was cordial and I am not complaining.
Can a person go into their office and get a copy any faster?
Thanks, Roy, Ohio
