I'm not sure what I'm looking for here. I have recently found out that at
least the parents of my Gaddis branch were members of the Seceders
Church. They arrived in Delaware County in 1801 and left for Illinois in
I have found some of the younger generations in the Gilchrist Memorial
Does anyone know anything about what Seceders were? Was there a church
they attended in Delaware County? They lived mostly in Kortright,
Davenport, Meredith and Harpersfield.
Anything would be helpful. We are trying to determine (still!) where they
came from in Ireland and are hoping maybe this might hold a clue to tell
us. I am not sure if they were Seceders all of their lives. Just that a
biography written on one of the sons in 1889 tells me the parents were
Seceders. The son the bio was written on is a member of the Christian
Church. Anyone know what that is? He had a nephew who was a member of the
Christian Science Church. Is that the same thing?
Sure would be nice if they all stayed the same religion. But, then, we are
Catholic. So, I guess we aren't helping the trail any either.
