Electa Minerva Banks Mann is the daughter of David Banks (1791-1845)and Clarissa Parsons
Banks (1792-1873)of the town of Veteran, Chemung, New York. Aaron and Electa are mentioned
as heirs of her father, David Banks' will which was probated 8 Dec 1845 in Chemung
"On 30 Jul 1845, David Banks of Veteran, NY wrote his will. Wife Clarissa to have
possession of his home in Veteran as long as she remained unmarried. He left eldest son
Hezekiah 80 acres of land on "East side of the road" [presumably in Veteran]
provided he should pay daughters Elosia, Emily and Jane $ 1000 within 4 yrs. of the death.
David left $350 to daughter Elosia, $250 each to daughters Emily and Jane, with provision
also for Jane's schooling. David left to son Daniel 50 acres on the "west side of
the road." He specified that Daniel must pay daughter Jane $100 upon reaching age 21.
Remainder of estate to wife Clarissa. Witnesses were A[lbert] F. Babcock and E[rastus] O.
Crandall, both of Veteran, NY. [No executor listed] The court later listed the children
heirs as: Hezekiah Banks, Daniel Banks and Jane Banks of the said town of Veteran, Electa
Minerva the wife of Aaron Mann, James N. Banks, Elosia the wife of Daniel McCarty of
Aurora, Kain [sic -- Kane] County, Illin!
ois; Emily the wife of Morgan L. Noble of Fondalac [sic] Wisconsin. Jane was the only
minor, and the estate was worth less than $1000. On 24 Oct 1845, Albert F. Babcock
appointed guardian of the interests of Jane Banks. On 8 Dec 1845, witnesses Babcock and
Crandall swore this was the will signed by David Banks, and it was admitted that date to
probate in surrogate's court, Chemung Co., NY. (Chemung Co., NY (town of Veteran) Will
