It seems that surely five percent of the population of Columbia County
was comprised of people named Philip Clum. I have any number in my
family lines. The first thing we have to do is nail down which one you
are talking about. A word of caution here, do not put a great deal of
faith in the ages listed in census records. I would question them
especially any time the wife is older than the husband. I believe the
Philip you are referring to may be the Philip Clum who at St. John's
Lutheran Church of Manortown, married in 1830 Margaret Coon
(Kuhn/Coons). If so, he appears to be Philipp Henrich Clum, the son of
Henrich P. Clum and Catharina Best, b.08 May 1807, and bpt. 14 Jun 1807,
at the Reformed Curch of Germantown. Sponsors at his baptism were
Philipp H. Clum and Christina Linck.
If this is the Philip you are looking for, the following is certain:
Germantown's Christ Lutheran Church
Catherine Maria, b. 04 Jan 1833, bpt. 31 Oct 1833, Parents: Philip H.
NOTE: sponsors at this bpt. were William Coon and Maria Miller, prob.
St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Manorton
Mary Jane, b 27 Jan 1835, bpt. 29 Jun 1835, Parents: Philip H. Clum and
Elisabeth Agnes, b. 08 Sep 1837, bpt. 18 Jul 1838, Parents: Philip H.
Clum and Margaret
Harman, b. 24 Jul 1837, bpt. 25 Sep 1837, Parents: Philip Clum and Mary
Antoinette, b. 10 Jun 1840, bpt, 27 Jul 1842, Parents: Philip Clum and
Eli J. H., b. 01 Feb 1850, 29 Jul 1851, Parents: Philip Clum and

I am looking to find out what I can on my ggg grandparents. They are Philip Clum and
(this is the tricky part) Marian Clum as listed on the 1850 NY Census for Livingston, New
York. Philip is listed as being 37 on the 1850 Census which would make this year of birth
1813 and Marian is 35 bringing her year of birth as 1815.
They have a son names Herman, daughters Antonette and Mary C and a baby named Eli. She
is listed as Marya Ann Clum on her daughter Antoinette (b. 1840) christening papers from
Saint Johns Lutheran Church in Manorton, New York. Their son Eli (b. 1850) was christened
at the same church and the parents are listed as Philip Clum and Margaret Clum.
What I'm trying to find out is where they are buried and what is my ggg grandmother
given name. Does anyone know where Manorton is located and if this church is still there?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
