I have found probate records for Columbia County, at familysearch.org
. The drawback is
that they aren't indexed in the search function. However, I have found that if you
have an approximate date, there are index books for each volume, within the database, and
if you look around, you can often find what you are looking for. I think they are
separated somewhat by type of record, that is will, guardianship, letters of

Can I bother you for a second quick tutorial on Fulton History. I am checking to see if
an ancestor, Herbert s Taylor is somewhere therein. I have searched under Herbert S
Taylor, Herbert S Taylor, Tioga County, Herbert S Taylor born 1849, etc. I come up with
a myriad of articles but none with Herbert Should the search info be in quotation marks?
For future searches I would like to have some more expertise. Any advice is happily
