Charles Carr and Sara Taylor Carr are my GGGG grandparents. I have been frustrated that
their line seems to stop at Kinderhook, with no event noted before the birth of son
William (Willem) in K'hook in 1746.
Through the Carr Family Records, pub. 1894 by Edson I. Carr, I discovered that a Charles
Carr was born ca. 1715 in RI. His line goes back, as others have noted: Caleb, Caleb,
Robert (the immigrant, 1635 on the Elizabeth Ann from London), to Sir Benjamin, London.
However, no more information is offered about what happened to him or his siblings.
I am intrigued by the possibility that the RI Charles may have married Miss Taylor and
moved to K'hook. His age would be right to have sired William, ca. 1746 in
My own line descends from William through Cornelius (moved to Haverhill, NH, buried in
Quebec) > John (moved from NH to MI) > Charles, my grandfather (moved to Cleveland)
> John my father, born and died in Cleveland > to me, Charles Morris Carr. My son
is also named John, and now lives in Hanover, MA, and he has kept the John/Charles
alternation through his 1st-born daughter, Charlotte.
Does this sound plausible?
