Harry Anderson Passes Away, Funeral Tuesday
Harry B. Anderson, resident of Ely for the past 16 years passed away Thursday
afternoon at one thirty at a local hospital where he had been receiving
medical treatment for the past few weeks. "Red", as he was familiarly called
by his many friends, has been in failing health since last September and
had made several trips to Salt Lake City to consult a specialist, the last
being about a week ago. He returned Tuesday accompanied by Mrs. Anderson
and re-entered the hospital.
Deceased was born October 10, 1876 in Havana, Cuba where his father was
serving as consul to Cuba. The family later returned to the United States
and located in New York. Mr. Anderson served with the British Army in the
south African Boer war and was a captain with the First division of the
Royal Engineers in the World War. He saw active service during the entire
war and later was stationed in Russia for two years following the Armistice.
About 1921 he returned to the United States, making his home in Arizona
until sixteen years ago when he came to Ely to reside. He has been in charge
of the plumbing department of Goodman-Tidball Merc. Co., during the years
he resided here. He was a member of the plumbers union.
Mr. Anderson was married in September of 1928 to Mrs. Charlotte Spear of
Ely.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, two stepsons Pfc. Raymond E. Spear
who is stationed at Camp Young, California, R. K. Beauchamp of Ely and
four grand children. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at
two o'clock at Wilson-Bates chapel and will be conducted by Rev. Laird
V. Loveland of the Methodist church.

Anderson Rites Tuesday Afternoon
Funeral services for Harry Baldwin Anderson, who passed away at a local
hospital following a long illness were held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock
at Wilson-Bates chapel. Rev. Laird V. Loveland, pastor of the Methodist
church conducted the services and Mrs. Wayne Seacrist sang two selections.
The chapel was filled with friends of the deceased and his family and the
casket banked with flowers. Pallbearers were Phil Toomey, Joe Carrick,
Del Windous, Oscar Hill, Ralph Beckwith and John Weber. Burial was in the
Ely cemetery.
