M.L. MILLSAPS IS DEAD AT 72
Marcus L. Millsaps, pioneer of Northern Washoe County, and for more than thirty years
engaged in the ranching business in Modoc county, Cal., died at Colusa, Cal., on December
31. The remains arrived in Reno last night, accompanied by relatives, and burial took
place this afternoon from the Ross-Burke Company chapel.
Mr. Millsaps died in his sleep, and had been complaining only a few days. He was
seventy-two years of age, and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Susan Millsaps; a son, Ira L.
Millsaps, of Reno; one daughter, Mrs. Annie Freeman of Sacramento, and two sisters, Mrs.
Callie Newton of Princeton, Cal., and Mrs. Sarah Hickey of San Francisco.
Although a resident of Eagleville and other Modoc county towns for thirty-four years,
Mr. Millsaps was also interested in ranches in Northern Washoe county and was well known
in Gerlach and other settlements in the northern part of the county.
