I'm looking for any info on John Henry Segrave. I own a Knights Templar ceremonial
sword engraved with his name.
The manufacturer of my sword was J. R. Pettis & Co. Troy, NY (engraved on back of
sword blade). I believe the sword was made somewhere around 1880-1900.
Here is J. H. Seagraves obit from 1906:
Daily Nevada State Journal September 6, 1906
PNEUMONIA CLAIMS ONE OF RENO'S PIONEERS
John H. Seagraves, one of the pioneers of Reno, passed away yesterday morning at his home
on High Street. His death was due to pneumonia from which he has been suffering for
several weeks. He was a native of Missouri, aged 67 years.
Three sons are left to mourn his loss. Lieutenant Curtis Seagraves, Ralph Seagraves and
W. Seagraves. The latter is present in South Africa. The funeral will be held this
afternoon at two o'clock from the family residence. Perkins, Oliver and Gulling have
charge of the funeral arrangements and internment will be in Hill Side cemetery.
