Dear List Members,
I am hoping that someone may be able to help me.
My ancestor James TREGONING or TREGONNING left Cornwall in England bound for
Australia in 1858. James had two brothers named William and John. William
is supposed to have gone to the US and in the early 1880s was living in
Eureka County. There is a W. TREGONING in the 1880 census who is possibly
him although he is living with his wife S.. William had a son named John
who may also have accompanied him. A William and John appear as passengers
on the Pennsylvania which arrived in New York in 1866. A similar William and
John also appear in the 1870 Census in Humboldt County.
As far as I can tell there is no record of them in the 1900 census.
Recently however I found a vague reference while searching on the internet
to a John TREGONING who was a mine manager at Reno in Nevada.
In the past I have often been asked if I am related to other TREGONING or
TREGONNING families but to the best of my knowledge James only produced two
Great, Grandchildren with the TREGONNING surname one of which was my father.
I would like to know if there are other TREGONING or TREGONNING relatives
out there.
If anyone can help me find John TREGONING in Reno or advise me what
resources would be available it would be appreciated.
Regards,
Christine Tregonning
