I am not related to the family but found these few items
Reno Evening Gazette 1916 Feb 28 page 16
Dr. Jewett G. Leonard, a pioneer resident of Reno, passed away yesterday at his home
following a long illness. He had been a resident of this city for 25 years, coming from
Susanville where he was well know. He was a member of the Susanville lodge of Masons and
was 72 years old. Three sons, J. Frank Leonard of Reno, Leo Leonard of Lombac [they
preobably mean Lompac], California, and O.T. Leonard of Chicago and a daughter, Mrs. A.
Archibald of Fairview, survive him. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of
Groesbeck & O'Brien.
Regno Evening Gazette 1916 Feb 29 page 16
The funeral of Dr. Jewett G. Leonard, who died here Sunday, will be held at the Masonic
temple, Thursday afternoon under the auspices of Reno Lodge No., 13 F&AM. Rev
Brewster Adams will assist at the services. Dr. Leonard was a pioneer of Reno and a
veteran of the Civil War.
If he was a Mason he would be buried in the Masonic section of Mountain View cemtery here
in Reno. Unfortunately there are no records at this time to indicate if Nellie was buried
there and also his mother Emily. I am working on those records now as I am a docent at
the Nevada Historical Society here in Reno.
Dr. Leonard was in the 1910 census for California, Sierra and he is 67, widowed. So
Nellie died between 1900 and 1910. She might have been buried in Susanville, California.
His mother Emily and son Otis are in Reno. If he was ill he probably came back to Reno
where he passed away.
His mother is not listed among survivors so she probably has passed away between the 1910
census and his death in 1916.
Mrs. Emily Leonard....
Daily Nevada State Journal 1901 Sept 3 page 1. Mrs. Emily Leonard, a prominent member of
the WCTU of Reno departs next Monday for Michigan where she expects to remain for two
years.
I didn't find her burial place or death date. She "might" be in the Masonic
cemtery where Jewett is but I can't locate that right now.
I will check at the Historical Soceity next week and see if we have any information on the
family and get back to you.
Good luck with the above information
