RENO, NV---Ben Stewart Makinson, 44, died Sunday, April 16, 2000 at Saint Mary's
Regional Medical Center.
A native of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, he was born on October 21, 1955 to Ray Stewart
& Ardyce Jane Mitchell Makinson, and he lived in Reno for the past nine [9] years.
Makinson was a diesel mechanic. He graduated in 1973 from Elmira High School, Elmira,
Oregon, was an Air Force veteran, and was a former member of the non-denominational
Worldwide Church of God, that was founded by Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong.
He was predeceased by a son, Matthew Dean Makinson, who died September 5, 1976 in
Lexington, Lexington County, South Carolina.
Surviving are his wife, Randy A. Homer Nelson Makinson of Reno, NV; son, Benjamin Jared
Makinson of Lexington, SC; daughters, Kelly Dawn [Wayne Arthur Jr] Williams of Florence,
SC, Lorinda Nadene Makinson of Florence, SC; stepdaughter, Lisa Karkenny of Salem, OR;
stepson, Gene Nelson of Bend, OR; his parents; paternal grandmother, Esther Makinson of
Veneta, OR; sisters, Rebecca "Becky" Ann Abney of Greenbrae, WI, Linda Jane
[Lester Alan] Babb of Medford, OR, Greta Lucille Tapia of La Verne, CA, Jeannine LaRae
"Jenny" [Steve] Cammack of Vacaville, CA; brother, Timothy Lance Makinson of
Pennsylvania; maternal grandmother, Martha Mitchell of Triangle Lake, OR; 5
step-grandchildren; 1 grandchild, Ariel Elizabeth Williams of Florence, SC; former wife,
Vicki Lynn Lipps Makinson Goff of Salley, SC; special high school friend, Jim [Debbie]
Snethen of Reno, NV; many nieces, nephews, & other relatives.
No funeral is scheduled. Cremation will be at Masonic Memorial Gardens Crematory.
