Ernest Schroeder, Retired Engineer, Dies in Sparks.
A retired machinst for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Sparks, where he had resided since
1907, Ernest L. Schroeder was dead on arrival at a local hospital Tuesday after suffering
an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Schroeder was born Sept. 28, 1892 at Myers Station, Placer County, Calif. He
attended grade school in Gardnerville and was graduated from the eighth grade of the
Robert Mitchell school in Sparks. He went to work for the railroad in 1912, serving until
his retirement in 1959.
Mr. Schroeder was a past noble grand of Wadsworth Lodge No. 33, I.O.O.F. in which he
had held membership for 55 years. He was a past president and secretary of the Sparks
local of the International Association of Machinist.
His wife, Kathry, died in 1964. He is survived by a son, Ernest Richard Schroeder, a
daughter Mrs. George Paragini, two grandsons, George and Tom Paragini and two
great-grandchildren, Rickie and Angela Paragini, all of Sparks, He was a brother-in-law
of Mrs. Sylvia Schoreder of San Bernardino, Calif.
A funeral will be held today at 2. p.m. in the Pyramid Funeral Home in Sparks under the
direction of Wadsworth Lodge of Odd Fellows with the Rev. John Schmidt of the Sparks
United Methodist Church clergyman. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
(FYI Mountain View Cemetery is located in Reno, Gardnerville is in Douglas county just
south of Carson City, Nevada)
