While conducting a search of my husband's family name, BRIDGEFORD, in the Ancestry
Historial Newspaper Collection, I found an article in the Nevada State Daily Journal
(April 20, 1905) indicating that a Mrs. THOMPSON met up with her uncle, T.J. BRIDGEFORD,
whom she had not seen since 1895 when they were both in Portland, Oregon. Further
research identified that Mrs. THOMPSON (first name unknown) was the wife of P.L. THOMPSON,
proprietor of the Overland Cafe, located in the Overland Hotel building. According to the
paper, Mr. THOMPSON had formerly run a restaurant in Oregon.
I am trying to learn more about the identity of Mrs. THOMPSON -- as a niece of T.J.
BRIDGEFORD, she would be a grand aunt to my husband. I thought I had identified all the
members of that generation, but this name is new to me. If anyone has any information
that might help me clear up this mystery, I would be very grateful. I am also happy to
share the information I've gathered on this BRIDGEFORD branch.
