Pete Devencenzi
Pete Devencenzi passed away suddenly and peacefully at his residence in Woodland on
Friday, Dec. 6th, 2002, at the age 61. He was born May 12, 1941, in Reno, Nevada to John
and Mary (Figone) Devencenzi, both whom predecease him. His grandmother, Catherine Figone,
also predeceases him. He had been a resident of Yolo County since 1967.
After completing his schooling, he began his working career in Nevada and after several
years there, he then moved to Woodland, and went to work for Kordite Mobil Chemical which
later became what is now Tyco manufacturing. He has been continuously employed there for
the last 36 years. A person who was extremely devoted to his family he loved being
surround by those he cared for and loved. His "life was his wife, daughter and
grandchildren" and those who knew him remember him as a giving and caring man. And
his daughter remembers him as the "World's Greatest Dad." Away from work he
was always busy with hobbies and interests that were diverse and challenging. He loved to
take walks, work in his garden at home with his cactus and peonies and searching for
things to recycle. Reloading, curing olives, fishing, hunting and enjoying the "Green
Bay Packers" football team were things that kept him busy and occupied. Pete
treasured the times he spent with his "father-in-law" cutting w!
ood and sharing good times. He was a friend to everyone and was always willing to lend a
hand to those in need. He was also known to friends and co-workers as a man who loved old
cars, motorcycles and to tinker with anything and everything while listening to the
"Oldies but Goodies" from the 1950s and 1960s.
His wife of 39 years, Frances Marie (Ventura) Devencenzi; his daughter, Dayna Devencenzi
and his son, Jerry Williams Devencenzi, all of Woodland, survives him. His grandchildren,
also of Woodland include Pete Randell Kemmler, Brittney Elise Ashbey and Sahra Lynn
Meddock, Shannon Nichole Meddock and Steven Williams Meddock. His brothers, Tony
Devencenzi and Frank Devencenzi of Reno, Nevada; and his sisters, Elda Umscheid and spouse
Elfred of Elko, Nevada, Angie VanMetter of Sparks, Nevada and Emiley Laney of Reno, Nevada
also survive Mr. Devencenzi as do numerous nieces and nephews and good friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at 1 p.m., at Kraft Bros.
Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland, CA. Pastors Walter Zeck and Doug Zeck will officiate.
Private interment for family members and friends will be scheduled at a later date.
