Message Board Post:
I cleverly posted the following on the RootsWeb mailing list earlier today instead of on
this Board. Some of this has already been addressed.
Doreen Robinson used to be active compiling all types of information about Nevada and
selling it in books that are still be available from:

(Search for "Nevada" on the site and the various volumes will come up. The
site's surname search doesn't bring up Chitten, but she is there in the
"Territorial Enterprise Announcements, 1866-1867" volume nonetheless.)
I went through all my paper versions of her various compendia and found no other
Chitten/Chatten/Chattin/Chitten/etc. I also found none of these names in inventories of
the cemeteries in Virginia City, Gold Hill, Silver City, Dayton, or Carson City. (However,
note that many of these cemeteries were in poor condition by the time the first extant
inventories were done, in the 1950s and 1960s, so many graves were lost.)
Sadly, the Territorial Enterprise is not yet online, and in the early years many of the
issues have been lost.
Also, Ms. Robinson's volumes are compendia, and while she did a remarkable job with
these, if there is more information in the newspaper it would not be listed here. The way
to find that information is to contact the Nevada Historical Society, 775-688-1190 (1650
No. Virginia St., Reno, NV 89503),

446&Itemid=122 . A reference librarian should be able to look up the notice in the
8/04/1866 newspaper. [I note that Arline already took care of this suggestion!]
My subsequent post:
The interesting question for you, Ron, assuming that this is "your" Lucretia, is
why her death in San Francisco was reported in the Territorial Enterprise of Virginia
City. There must have been some tie to Nevada.
